"Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living." -Miriam Beard
"When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."
-Samuel Johnson
During my four years at Auburn, I took advantage of serveral opportunities that allowed me to travel abroad. In Summer 2011, I traveled with a group of Auburn students and two professors to Italy, France and the UK for six weeks. I learned so much about myself and about each city I visted.
During my sophomore year, I participated in an Alternative Student Breaks program and traveled to San Jose and La Fortuna, Costa Rica. My group worked on various community development efforts with three different local organizations. This trip opened my eyes to a part of the world I had never seen before and it gave me a new sense of perspective.
After visiting London, England with Auburn Abroad, I knew that a semester abroad was necessary to fulfill my desire to learn about the English culture and experience living in a major metropolitan city. I never expected the monumental impact this experience would have on my life.
I attended an international university in Kensington, London for four months. The central location was ideal for maximum exposure to city life and all that London has to offer. The introduction to a variety of cultures in an academic setting was an irreplacable experience because I was constantly learning, both in and out of the classroom, from my peers.
